Reconstructive Blepharoplasty

Corrective Eyelid Surgery in Tucson

Though it is often used as a cosmetic procedure to rejuvenate the appearance of aging eyes, eyelid surgery can also be used for corrective and reconstructive purposes as well.

Dr. Lo is recognized as an expert in the field of eyelid surgery and many patients are referred to him for a second opinion or for correction of previous eyelid surgery. Eyelid surgery is done in patients starting in their late forties and older. Occasionally, some patients may be younger due to inherited problems.

Procedure Description

During your reconstructive eyelid surgery with Dr. Lo, you will be placed under anesthesia. He will carefully make an incision within the natural creases and folds of your eyelid to best hide any future scarring. Your eyelids can then be reshaped or corrected by removing and altering excess skin and tissue. The lower lids can be improved by removing excess fat to reduce any puffiness. If you are correcting problems from a previous surgery, Dr. Lo will make sure to provide you with your desired results. Once complete, Dr. Lo will close your incisions with sutures and place any necessary bandages around your eyes.

Your corrective eyelid surgery will take about one to two hours depending on whether you're having your upper, lower or both eyelids operated on. Following your surgery, you should be back to work in about a week.

Additional Information

When the brows are excessively droopy, it can appear that there is even more upper eyelid tissue. In this case, a brow lift should be performed in addition to the eyelid surgery. Usually, eyelid surgery should not be done more than twice as multiple blepharoplasties would prevent adequate closure of the eyelids.

Concurrent Procedures

This surgery can be performed at the same time as other procedures, such as a brow lift, face lift, midface lift, laser resurfacing, or chemical peel.
