Procedure
Information
Using the same principle as the Aptos threads, these new
barbed threads are made of a clear polypropylene material.
They are inserted under the skin and help to hold the skin
in a lifted position due to the barbs. Additionally, they
can be used on the lower face and neck, a feature that was
not possible with the previous threads. These Contour Threads, however, do not replace a traditional facelift
because if a patient has too much sagging, the Contour Threads
cannot fully correct these aging changes. The procedure is
done under local anesthesia in the office and healing time
is approximately 5-7 days.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, ContourLift™, the makers of the contour
threads, are no longer manufacturing this product. The demand
for threads has decreased in the past few years due to the
improvements in other cosmetic technologies, such as the
revolutionary QuickLift™. In an age of permanency,
consumers are looking for long-lasting changes in their appearances.
Contour threads, being effective in only select patients,
are losing popularity because they achieve only about 30%
of what the QuickLift™ can achieve in a lift.
