Procedure Information
Hair is harvested from the back of the scalp. From
there, the individual hair follicles are prepared for
transplantation into either the eyelashes or eyebrows.
On average, 20-30 hair follicles are transplanted into
each of the upper eyelashes and 200-400 hair follicles
are transplanted into each eyebrow. The procedure is
done under a local anesthesia in the comfort of our
office. Either procedure can be done by itself or in
combination.
Additional Information
The hair follicles will go through
a natural cycle where 3-4 weeks after being transplanted
they will fall out. After 6-8 weeks, those hair follicles
will go through the growth phase and the eyelashes
will reappear. It is important to note that the transplanted
hair follicles will continue to grow as they would
have done at the back of the scalp. Periodic eyelash
trimming and/or curling will be required to maintain
a natural look.
