Eye Procedures

At About Faces Cosmetic Surgery, we know that your eyes play a vital role in your overall aesthetic appearance. Bright, unobstructed, beautiful eyes are aesthetically pleasing and their functionality is vital. We offer several procedures that can help optimize the form and function of your eyes.

Eyelid Surgery

As an oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Lo has special expertise in procedures related to the eyes. During blepharoplasty, he can remove excess skin or fat that has accumulated around your eyes, improving your appearance and possibly improving your vision. Precise incisions are made in the natural crease of the eyelid or inside the eyelid and fat is repositioned or removed in conservative amounts. Related procedures may correct problems of the lower eyelids such as eyelid ptosis, entropion and ectropion.

Brow Lift

The condition of your forehead and brow may affect your vision and the appearance of your eyes. To improve your vision and restore the pleasing facial expression you once carried, a brow lift can gently raise the tissues of your forehead that have fallen over time. Visible signs of aging around the eyes such as crow's feet can be reduced as well.

Latisse® Eyelash Enhancement

Latisse® is an eyelash enhancement product marketed by Allergan, the maker of Botox® Cosmetic and Juvederm®. If you have hypotrichosis (a condition of inadequate eyelashes), you may benefit from using Latisse®. You brush Latisse® on the upper eyelid daily and after several weeks the lashes respond, becoming significantly longer, thicker and darker. Maintaining the effect of Latisse® requires regular use. If you stop using it, the lashes return to normal.

Tear Duct Surgery

If you experience problems with dry eyes or eyes that seem to water constantly, one of these procedures may be the right solution. Tear duct surgery is performed to bypass the blockage so that the tears can drain into the nose. It can be performed via a small incision next to the nose, or inside the nose with the use of an endoscope. If a patient complains of dry eyes, there are other treatments, including blocking the tear ducts with small plugs to increase moisture in the eyes.

Thyroid Disease

An overactive thyroid can make the tissue around the eye swell, causing the eyes to bulge forward and the eyelids to retract. These problems often lead to drying of the cornea, double vision, irritation, tearing, redness, and possible vision loss. Enlarging the eye socket can decrease the bulge of the eyes. Restoring the eyelids to their normal level can allow the eyes to close properly.
