Full, sensuous lips are considered beautiful
in our society. Fortunately, if one was not born with full lips,
or if the lips have thinned with age, there are many ways to
enhance their size and shape. Popular choices are injectable
fillers, such as Fascian, Restylane, Perlane, Radiance, silicone,
and fat. Also available are implants, such Gore-Tex and Alloderm.
These procedures can be done at any age.
Procedure Description
All lip augmentation procedures are done in the office with
local anesthesia. The lips are numbed and the material is
injected or implanted into the lips. Implants require an incision
and closure with sutures, but the scars are not visible after
healing. Most lip procedures take less than one hour to complete.
There is minimal bruising, but there can be swelling for a
few days to a week.
