Sonda Espich has decided to undergo the "Quick Lift" procedure. She told News 4, "I've been seeing the advertisements on TV. And, I've tracked [a doctor] down, and I've checked [him] out and I think [he's] is the guy."

Sondra is a woman on a mission to look younger. She says, "Let's face it. Everyone wants to look a little younger. [I] don't want to look thirty. I just want to look like me and look in the mirror and think, ‘Okay, I look good'."

Sondra is a 63 year old grandmother. Up until now, she's been very hesitant to get any plastic surgery. She says she doesn't want the ‘Joan Rivers look'. She explains, "I don't think I'm expecting a huge difference. I'm expecting to look better and pulled more to where I should be."

That's why Sondra chose the "Quick Lift". Doctor Mikel Lo is the only doctor in Tucson doing this procedure. He says, "It will raise and soften these jowls, because it's a vertical pull and natural rather than a straight back pull like in many facelifts. We'll tighten up the neck so that the looseness will be improved."

What makes the "Quick Lift" unique is the way the sagging tissue is lifted, pulled and sutured into its new position.

In addition, unlike a traditional facelift, Sondra is awake the entire time.

During the procedure, she was asked, "Do you feel like you are in ‘la la' land?" She said, "No. I feel very awake. That's amazing." She said she could hear everything and feel nothing. It's called ‘conscious sedation'.

The procedure takes less than two hours.

News 4 caught up with Sondra five weeks later. Sondra is back for one of her final visits. Everything is healing well. For the first time since the surgery, she will look at "before and after" photos. It's quite a shock.

She says, "When I look at the ‘before' it just makes [me] want to cry. I really never ever thought I looked that bad. I see a lot of my mother in these pictures. She was 90 when I saw this."

Sondra claims she had no pain. The worst thing about the surgery was not being able to sleep on her side for a couple of weeks. She's only sorry she waited so long to have it done. She says, "This is the magic bullet I've been waiting for. I figured they'd come out with a booth you could step into and all of a sudden you would look good again. It's not going to happen. But, this worked!"
