The Juvederm Collection of dermal filler products is a line of hyaluronic acid based injectables designed to temporarily smooth and add volume to different areas of the face without surgery. What is Juvederm?
All Juvederm Fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, or HA, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body that gives our skin fullness and volume. Modified HA is the main ingredient in Juvederm products and is cross-linked and manufactured using two proprietary technologies, Hylacross and Vycross. Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus products are made with Hylacross technology and have the same molecular weight, creating a thin to medium gel.
Vycross technology is used in Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella products - they all start with the letter V - wink! Vycross technology cross-links different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to create a thicker, firmer gel. Juvederm Hylacross and Vycross products have unique, subtle differences making them each ideal products to address specific aesthetic concerns. Juvederm temporarily adds fullness and volume, and is safe and effective with immediate results which may last up to one year. Both are ideal for adding plumpness and definition to lips that have thinned over time, or if you simply want fuller lips. They can also smooth and correct nasolabial folds or smile lines around the mouth. Juvederm Ultra is for finer lines and wrinkles, while Ultra Plus works on deeper folds.
Volbella defines, hydrates and adds volume to the lips. It is the thinnest of the Vycross products and can be used for a subtle enhancement of the lips. It is an perfect for “first-time” lip filler patients who want a very subtle improvement. Volbella can also be used to fill and smooth perioral lines or “lipstick or smoker lines” around the lips, and add definition to the vermilion border.
Vollure is ideal for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the "parentheses lines" around the nose and mouth, corners of the mouth, and marionette lines. Its thickness makes it a very versatile product which can be used to smooth and lift other areas of the face. Vollure can last up to 18-months.
Voluma adds volume beneath the skin's surface to provide lift and contour to the cheek area, restoring natural age-related volume loss. Voluma is also used for chin augmentation to improve the chin profile and add symmetry to balance the face. Voluma can last up to 18-months.

Once you have your consultation and determine which Juvederm filler products will be best for your goals, your injector will take photos and apply a topical numbing cream. The product used and the placement on the face will determine the needle and technique used. You can feel a slight pinch when the product is first injected and then some light pressure as the gel is applied under the skin. Juvederm products hurt less because they are mixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic that works on contact, to keep patients comfortable during treatment.

You will still look like you, Juvederm fillers are soft and natural looking. You may experience mild swelling, redness and maybe faint bruising which can be covered by makeup. The area may be tender and feel uneven, but this will resolve as you heal. There is no downtime and you can expect to see improved volume in the days following your treatment.

You will see the smoothing and plumping effects from your Juvederm filler immediately, and results will continue to settle and improve as you heal. Full results are typically seen in about a month.
