The ideal candidate for NeoGen Plasma resurfacing is anyone wanting to rejuvenate the look and feel of their skin, reduce lines and wrinkles, improve and smooth skin texture, a brighter and more even skin tone, and soften acne scars.

NeoGen should not be considered if you are pregnant or lactating, have an auto-immune disease, cancer, or skin disease.

While Dr. Lo typically recommends a more aggressive NeoGen resurfacing with his facelift procedures, our Med Spa NeoGen protocol treats with lower settings for a series of three treatments every 4-6 weeks. Treatment times vary depending on the area and your individual goals with a full-face treatment taking around 45-60 minutes and smaller targeted areas lasting 15-30 minutes.

A topical numbing cream is applied for increased patient comfort. When ready, your clinician will begin the NeoGen treatment which delivers plasma energy in controlled pulses from the hand piece. This energy rapidly heats the skin but is non-ablative meaning it does not fully remove the skin’s surface like other ablative treatments typically used for skin resurfacing. Depending on the settings, most patients find the treatment comfortable and may experience a blast of warm air in certain areas. Immediately after the NeoGen treatment, skin will be red and warm but there will be no open wounds. NeoGen uses your skin as a natural barrier and maintains a protective layer that encourages rapid healing and prevents infection.

Depending on how well the individual’s skin is previously conditioned and the depth of the treatment, the downtime can vary. Typically, patients will experience 3-7 days of social downtime.

Immediately after your treatment skin will be red and warm. We will apply a layer of Aquaphor jelly to your treated skin which you will continuously apply for the first 24 hours. Skin will be red and fragile and will need to be kept moist with Aquaphor for the first 3-days.

Around day 4 to 6, skin will turn brown and the natural barrier that formed to protect your new skin as it developed will slough and peel away.

As the damaged skin sloughs away and the new skin emerges, skin will look smoother, more evenly toned, brighter, and more youthful around day 7-10.

The skin tightening effects of the NeoGen are immediate with ongoing improvements as new collagen growth continues. Studies have shown that NeoGen treatments offer intense fibroblast regeneration up to two years after treatment. The results are firmer, more youthful-looking skin, tightening of the upper and lower eyelids, and improvement in skin tone, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture.
